Re-establishing countries bad?

Also in Africa, there was all different tribes that had been established long before we came along. Then the US and Europe went over and started making our own countries like Liberia. I feel as though they made things worst for Africa because they were dividing or grouping people that never were together in the first place. What do you think?

  1. Imagine if some other country invaded the U.S. There would be a lot of angry people and violence would most likely ensue. I will quote Immortal Technique, "Cuz if another country invaded the hood tonight. It'd be warfare through Harlem, and Washington Heights... I'd be fightin' for my people's survival and self-esteem." Of course we made things worse. There are hundreds of tribes in Africa, yet we politically divide it into maps. That creates a lot of issues.

  2. I agree! Although there are pros and cons of us going over to Africa ( and dividing countries) our overall impact was negative. This makes us out to be the "bad guys", however do you truly believe that ( in this context) if we had stayed out of Africa all of the countries and groups of people would live happily ever after in there spaces? The answer is no. At one point or another land and property becomes an issue. This is true in small and large cases, for example personal property or property owned by governments. We may have made things worse for Africa at the time; but there is the possibility that if we had not gone over there, another country or even the groups in Africa itself could have torn it [Africa] apart even worse....

  3. I do not think that if we stayed out of Africa they would have been happy forever and ever but I don't see how we had any right to go somewhere else and change the way they live in a big way. Humans are not perfect and of course there would be conflict within the African people about land and property but that happens with everyone and that should be their problem, not ours. If they indeed made things worst for themselves over time and we noticed they needed help fixing their problem, then i think it is alright to go help out another country. But to go rip out people from their homes, enslave them and then change their property around for our convenience is not right to do. If they made things worst, then so be it, but we have no right in changing the way of life for lots of people inhabiting Africa.

  4. Fully agree, the US and European countries were not really there to promote democracy and well being of the African people. They had their own interests which for most part had to do with natural resources exploitation. They had figured that to control many tribes that were often in war with each other would not be feasible, so setting up a country that covered a greater number of tribes but with a single puppet government was a better way to have influence over them. Unfortunately, that resulted in much infighting as independent tribes would not allow representatives from other tribes to rule over them. It would have been much better if US and Europeans were facilitators but left settling the country boarder and leadership matters to the local people.

  5. I totally agree. in the USA we were first made into different states so we are accustomed to it. over in Africa they had there own little tribes that were combined to make states. this means that some tribes that were rivals could have put together and caused chaos and disruption. i think that we should have just left it how it was in the first place.
